  3. Product description. album, written & produced in collaboration with REM's Peter Buck. It could be said that music makes strange bedfellows, and REM's Peter Buck cowriting and producing a Mark Eitzel album would be a perfect example/5(10).
  4. Stunned & Frozen Lyrics: Tragedy at the circus / The trapeze artist fell / And the crowd scattered and ran / He got up walking / Had nowhere to go / He was staring at the ground / The rain has.
  5. Basically, this is Mark Eitzel's worst album. On "West", his beautiful guitar work and songcraft has been traded in for Peter Buck's (which is very hackneyed). That alone does a lot of damage to the potential in these songs. According to the liner notes, Eitzel just sings and doesn't play any instruments on this CD/5(10).

  8. For his sophomore solo effort, West, Mark Eitzel teamed with R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck; given that several of the songs recorded during the sessions were originally intended as material for Buck's day job, it's no great surprise that the album sounds much like R.E.M. circa Out of Time or Automatic for the People, favoring gorgeously spare acoustic arrangements.
